Essay 4 Prompts
For Essay 4, due Tuesday, November 1, please choose one of the following:
Explain how a certain ritual or ceremony is conducted in your religion. Make sure someone of another faith could understand the process, and include a thesis statement that explains why the ritual is important.
Think of a process you believe should be modified or discontinued. Formulate a thesis that presents your negative feelings, and then explain the process so that you mae your objections clear to the readers.
Write an essay explaining a process you experienced but would not recommend to others — for example, getting a tatoo or a piercing.
Give instructions for participating in a potentially dangerous but worthwhile physical process — for example, rock climbing or white-water rafting. Be sure to include all necessary cautions.

Choose one of the following essay topics. You must write 500-600 words. Follow all standard writing requirements.
- Select an object you are familiar with, and write an objective description of it. Include a diagram or picture.
- Describe your neighborhood to a visitor who knows nothing about it. Include as much specific detail as you can.
